Episode #1: Introductions

Linda Szmulewitz

Hi there. I’m Linda Szmulewitz. I’m a licensed clinical social worker and a certified Gentle Sleep Coach. I live in Chicago. I have a teenage daughter and a tween son.  In 2011, I started an educational and supportive program called The Chicago New Moms Group, which is a 6 week program designed to support moms at a time when they’re learning to adjust to the many crazy aspects of becoming a new parent.

Shortly after I started the group, I began working with some of the moms who were in the group to help them with their children’s sleep. I quickly realized that I needed more specialized professional training if I was going to be truly great at this. I then trained with Kim West, the Sleep Lady to become a Gentle Sleep Coach.

Since training in 2012, I’ve worked with thousands of families.  Families from all over from as close as the Chicago ar e a, some even on my own block and other States in the United States, as well as, as far away as Australia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Chile, Egypt, and many others.

I’ve also completed further trainings and certifications in Infant Mental Health, the Wonder Weeks training for professionals and Postpartum Support International’s perinatal and mental health certification. As a social worker, my goal for every family that I work with is that in our work together, I can help them improve their functioning as a family

Sleep doesn’t just bring the much needed restoration that our bodies need, but when our children are sleeping well, it helps us as parents recharge and be able to parent mindfully, rather than just surviving from one exhausted day to the next.
